Diya Mumbai volunteers came up with a novel idea of dedicating Teachers’ day Celebrations to all the teachers in Mumbai. Soon the team started brainstorming and scanning Guruji’s literature depicting role of a teacher. Unanimously team decided the title ‘Role of a Teacher in Nation Building’ apt for Teachers’ day.

 

 

Diya Anupriya coordinated with Central Railway School,Kalyan and the Management agreed to have a session exclusively for teachers from primary to Junior College of Central Railway School. The session started at 02:00 p.m with around 35 teachers and it began explaining the glory of a guru in life. Great examples like Smt.Savitribai Phule the first lady teacher in India,Samarth Ramdas and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chanakya and Chandragupta Maurya were shared explaining significance of gurus.

Gradually teachers started sharing their concerns like students don’t listen, they are aggressive in nature. Also questions like teaching – passion or profession put the teachers in a thinking mode and it was a mixed feeling for all teachers. Diya volunteer shared Guruji’s sutras like walk the talk, importance of food on mind and body. Diya Team suggested that teachers have a one-to-one with at least one child for 10 minutes, this will facilitate to build a bond between students and teacher. Start every session with a positive instance like a story,achievement,thought.

 

Post session Diya Anupriya showcased Diya Mumbai varied projects through a video. Teachers were sensitized by the talk and it was nice feeling that 5 teachers present there wanted to make their children also teachers. Principal Central Railway School,Kalyan and Srivastava teacher were interested in Stress Management module and other initiatives of Diya Mumbai.Literature ‘Lose not your heart’ was distributed to all teachers in Hindi.

For the past 4 years, Smt.Amani J.Shetty from Ambernath Gayatri Pariwar  had been going to Gokhale Rahalkar Marathi Medium School for Bhartiya Sanskriti Gyan Pariksha and during such a visit Diya Mumbai got two oppurtunities. One for students i.e.Stress Management’ and the other for teachers of secondary section i.e. Role of Teachers in Nation Building’. Diya Indrabhushan put forth the presentation with interesting audio visuals and teachers could relate to their unique role in nation building and was well appreciated by Jhope sir. On the other hand, Diya Ruchita (ex-DSVV student pass out Batch 2011) had designed an exclusive module for students from std. 7th to std.10th. Breathing exercises, pragya yog. It was a huge hit students were highly excited to learn and eventually share the same with their friendsHead – Gokhale RahalkarMarathi Medium School, Ambernath Jhope Sir and Teacher Rajni helped Diya Mumbai in executing the program. Diya Rajesh captured these wonderful moments through photography.

It was Teachers’ Day celebrations’15 and Diya Apoorva grabbed the opportunity to have a session by Diya Mumbai. The august audience consisted of Mr.Karve,Chairman People Education Society,teachers of primary,secondary and Law College.

 

Diya Hitesh Joshi shared teachers are the modern sculptors of the gurukul parampara, their role as the architects of this nation is crucial. They build the character of children and about the teachers being the epitomes of selfless service. His words motivated a retired teacher from the same school to come forward and share her satisfaction which has emerged out of so many years of selfless service.Prinicpal Apte Madam appreciated the efforts of Diya Mumbai volunteers who work with such utmost surrender for societal transformation. Diya Apoorva strived hard to arrange this event and was her maiden experience as Diya Volunteer.
